MASURKAR hospital was founded in 1973 by Dr. Arun G Masurkar, a General Surgeon, alongside a Gynaecologist and Anaesthetist who shared his vision. Both graduates of GS Medical College and T N Medical colleges in Mumbai, they aimed to bring specialized care in Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and General Surgery—services that were mostly available only in major cities— to rural Karnataka. This establishment became the first consultant-run hospital in the taluka town of Gokak, initially operating from a rented space in the town center.
The hospital quickly gained popularity among patients, leading the founders to develop their own facility—an Advanced Hospital Facilities Homely Care maternity-surgical hospital—on a spacious plot along the Sankeshwar Yaragatti Munavalli Highway, on the outskirts of Gokak. What started as barren land has been transformed into a lush green environment, providing a serene setting for patient care.
In 1998, Dr. Seema, a Gynaecologist, and Dr. Ashwin, a General and Laparoscopic Surgeon, joined the team after completing their studies. Both raised in Mumbai, they were eager to contribute to the valuable work in Gokak. They sought to elevate maternity, gynaecology, and surgical care by introducing Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Endoscopic Urology, as well as Gynaecology and Infertility treatment options, including Intra-uterine insemination and fertility-enhancing surgeries such as Laparo-hysteroscopy.
